Welcome! My name is Laura Retzloff, and I am a wife, mommy, biblical counselor, birth doula, and photographer! My husband and I blended our families in 2021, so he gave me 2 bonus kids in addition to my son Cason, and we call Covington, LA home. I completed my doula training in 2014 through the Academy of Certified Birth Educators, and am a Certified Birth Doula through DONA International. I feel so blessed to have attended so many births for my amazing clients over the last decade!

I hold a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. A few days a week I practice counseling at The Nehemiah Project in Mandeville, LA. Thankfully I make my own schedule, which gives me the flexibility to be on call for birth work! I previously held a counseling position with Spanish-speaking women facing crisis pregnancies. (I love working with birth clients who speak Spanish as well!) I love women, I love babies, and I love helping mothers through the most challenging and rewarding days of their lives!

My Philosophy

I believe that a doula is most effective when she fosters an environment of trust and genuine connection with the birthing mother. A doula “serves” – and I joyfully help my client’s through the grace of God!

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11
