Childbirth education is a crucial part of preparing to bring a baby into your family. Some families are comfortable reading books, while others prefer a more hands-on learning experience. As your doula, it is my job to connect you with a childbirth educator who can teach you the basics about pregnancy, the stages of labor, breastfeeding, and other aspects of caring for your new baby. My two favorite childbirth educators are also doulas and members of Beginnings Birth and Doula Services of New Orleans.
Erin Majorie of Serene Support LLC offers classes as well as in-home private instruction. Check her Facebook page for upcoming classes.
Jessica LeBlanc of Crescent Birth Services teaches classes at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. She has an intensive weekend class (Positive and Prepared class) as well as a class that meets one evening per week for 6 weeks (Calm and Confident class). Check Touro’s childbirth education page for the dates of upcoming classes.
